CHAPTER !2 - The Subconscious Mind
Whichever way you look at it, the subconscious mind is very important. It performs the same function as the Operating System on a personal computer. It determines how the instructions given to it are carried out.
Unfortunately the default setting of the human Operating System is NEGATIVE. The human being will think negative thoughts unless s/he does something to prevent this.
I say this from personal experience. As everyone knows, I've had enough to make me think negatively during the past year or so. BUT, if I'm honest with myself, I've always functioned with a negative operating system, and that's what's held me back.
What I've learned from Mentoring For Free, and from the "mental cleanse" is that you can change your operating system and so change your life. It's going to take some time, but somehow I feel that I can do it, in spite of setbacks. As Michael said to me during the course of one Wednesday night call, if it weren't for Mentoring For Free I'd be "crying into my soup". To quote an expression which is often used in my particular part of the world, I'd be "crying into my beer". I have to say that in my case this would be more accurate. Either way, Michael is absolutely correct.
Now when you think about changing your Operating System there's something important to remember. You are more than your body, you are more than your mind. You are awareness. You are aware of having a body and a mind. You say I have a body, I have a mind. You don't say I am a body, I am a mind. You are the "I" of awareness in these phrases. Once you realise this, you can tell your mind and body what to do.
What you must beware of is what I and others call your automatic pilot. If you're not aware of its existence, it will take you back to your default setting and your old negative ways.
Are you aware or are you running on autopilot?
