CHAPTER 12-THE SUBCONSCIOUS MIND: THE CONNECTING LINK
I was 10 years old the first time I prepared supper for my mother. I still remember
the surprised look on her face. She just couldn’t figure out how I knew to cook a full
meal. Her biggest ah-ha moment was when she saw the cornbread I had made. Her
only question was, “How did you know how to make the cornbread?” My answer was
simple, “I watched you.” I see now this knowledge of how I cooked the cornbread was
an early imprint into my subconscious by repeatedly watching both my parents as they
“The subconscious mind consists of a field of consciousness, in which every impulse
of thought that reaches the objective mind through any of the five senses, is classified and
recorded, and from which thoughts may be recalled or withdrawn as letters may be taken
from a filing cabinet.”
We are receiving impressions, thoughts, and ideas which are imprinted into the subconscious
mind. This subconscious mind can go to the well of the Infinite Intelligence for the power to transmute
one’s desires into their physical equivalent. Even though I cannot entirely control my subconscious
mind, I can voluntarily give it any plan, desire, or purpose I wish transformed into concrete form, and
the best way is through my self-talk.
In order to voluntarily give to the subconscious mind, we are called to the development of habits
practiced on a daily basis. There is a choice before us to have negative or positive habits, but remember
negative and positive cannot coexist. To quote Mr. Hill, “You are now engaged in trying to help shut off the
flow of negative impulses, and to aid in voluntarily influencing your subconscious mind, through positive
impulses of desire.”
I still enjoy and have fun cooking. In the winter months I will prepare a big pot of homemade vegetable
soup or chili for my grandchildren. I do know the end product depends on the ingredients I put into the mix.
Too much or not enough salt, seasonings, or spices will affect the outcome. Likewise, the subconscious
mind is more susceptible to influence by impulses of thought mixed or seasoned with feelings or emotions.
From TGR we learned of 7 major positive emotions to put into the pot of the subconscious mind: The emotions
of DESIRE, FAITH, LOVE. SEX, ENTHUSIASM, ROMANCE and HOPE. (Michael adds prosperity) If I am to
have the “success consciousness,” I will fill my mind with positive emotion.
Warning! The soup pot of the subconscious mind will be tainted by the negative emotions of FEAR, JEALOUSY,
HATRED, REVENGE, GREED, SUPERSTITION and ANGER. “Positive and negative emotions cannot occupy the
mind at the same time. One or the other must dominate. It is your responsibility to make sure that
positive emotions constitute the dominating influence of your mind.”
Let it start with prayer. In my prayers I ask my God to ignite the positive emotion so to dominate my mind with
what is right and good at all times. This is my prayer for each of those who participate in MFF.
