A definition of Persistence is the fact of continuing in an opinion or course of action in spite of difficulty or opposition.
Persistence is probably more easily appreciated when looking through the eyes of the average three to six year old who wants something. How often have you listened to a child (or children – it’s contagious) ask, often at increasing volume, for the ice cream, dress, doll or toy or other ‘must have’ only to be told ‘no’ repeatedly by an increasingly frustrated parent?
In real life, that scenario often ends in one of three ways – the parent gives in, RESULT!, or after hearing enough refusals the child falls back onto the other parent with the same demands until either parent two gives in (another RESULT and a warning for the future) or the child finally realizes that ON THIS OCCASION they did not win.
As we grow older most accept the boundaries parents and authorities place on us in terms of right and wrong, sadly many also lose the quality of persistence and during the remainder of their lives, rarely if ever really strive for anything, simply accepting the cards they were dealt as their lot in life.
Michael tells us that if we wish to become more, we have to be more, that takes persistence. Mr Hill gives that same advice, stating that persistence is essential if we are to change the desire for wealth or anything else into a reality.
Mr. Hill provides a further antidote to lack of persistence. By surrounding yourself with a Mastermind Group it is entirely possible to overcome one’s own lack of persistence by using the power of the group to overcome that poor habit.
If the need and desire for success is high enough any lack within ourselves can be overcome, sometimes it simply takes a little more focus but with persistence comes success as surely as night follows day.
