Chapter 12-The Subconscious Mind

“I never approach the discussion of the subconscious mind without a feeling
of littleness and inferiority due
, perhaps, to the fact that man’s entire stock
of knowledge on this subject is so pitifully limited. The very fact that the
subconscious mind is the medium of communication between the thinking
mind of man and Infinite Intelligence is, of itself, a thought which almost
paralyzes one’s reason.” Napoleon Hill

Like Mr. Hill, I have felt a little small-minded when it comes to the subconscious
mind
. Even attempting to grasp the subject of the subconscious mind I feel that
I will come up short. This small part of my mind is at the heart of who I am. The
subconscious mind receives files, and senses thoughts or impressions regardless
of their nature, negative or positive.

Hill states, “You may VOLUNTARILY plant in your subconscious mind any plan, thought,
or purpose which you desire to translate into its physical or
monetary equivalent. The subconscious acts first on the dominating desires
which have been mixed with emotional feeling, such as faith.”

I am led to focus on the importance of what I am, which comes through what I am
voluntarily planting in my subconscious. I know I need to better understand this
medium of communication between my mind and Infinite Intelligence (which is God
to me). Before me are two basic choices to live in the positive emotions given
by God or fall into the deep ruts of the negative emotions.

Hill warns that if I fail to fill my mind with the emotions of desire, faith,
love sex, enthusiasm, romance, hope, and prosperity the door is wide opened for
fear, jealousy, hatred, revenge, greed, superstition, and anger to take over.

There is no room in the subconscious mind for both negative emotions and positive
emotions at the same. Furthermore, where the negative emotions thrive, they can
only be driven out when positive emotions are multiplied by 10-fold.

Like two beakers of liquates, one a harmful and foul solution, the other the purest
water available. Both move toward a funnel with a valve for directing the flow to
one container. The valve is controlled by the strength of the flowing of fluids and the
best way to prevent the harmful solution from getting to the container is to turn up the flow
of the pure water with more pressure. This is what I must do by increasing my self-talk
by 10X to push any negative emotions out of my subconscious mind.

My gratitude to all who are on the weekly call and add your brilliance.
