Our thoughts are like planning seed in a garden, they will grow and multiply until they become the dominaiting factor of our actions. Good thoughts - good action, negative thoughts - negative actions. If we do not purpously plant good, productive thoughts, our mind tends to migrate toward the negative. We live in a predominantly negative society. Most people are quick to tell you 'why it will not work'.
