Chapter  9,
Persistence!
From The Book,
Think And Grow Rich!
The Greatest Forces Are Intangible!

HOW TO DEVELOP PERSISTENCE

There are four simple steps which lead to the habit of Persistence .
No particular amount of education, and but little time or Effort.
The necessary steps are.

1 A definite purpose backed by burning desire for Its fulfillment.
2 A definite plan, expressed in continuous action.
3 A mind closed tightly against all negative and discouraging Influences, including
 negative suggestions of relatives, friends
And acquaintances.
4 A friendly alliance with one or more persons who will Encourage one to follow
through with both plan and purpose.  (Napoleon Hill)

When I was growing up, I can remember
the big Desire to learn how to ride a bicycle,
it did not become a strong Desire until I
noticed all my friends were riding bicycles.
The Definite plan was to get on it and ride it
over and over again, until you can stay
upright with out falling.
I went roller skating for the first time when I
was eight years old, before going it did not
sound like fun to me, I was not planning on
roller skating, I was going to watch
everybody else. After a short period of time
watching my friends fall down get back up
laughing,  a strong Desire came over me, I
have to get out there, I want to have fun
also.
My strong Desire now, Learn how to Think
not what to think! Napoleon Hill talks about
your other self, I have a strong Desire to get
to know my other self, my intangible
positive self. When we have a strong Desire
the word quit will not show up.
Remember, habits have to change!
We have to take action and let it happen
you can not make it happen within a week
or two.
