The majority of people who fail to accumulate money or reach other personal goals, are, generally, too easily influenced by the “opinions” of others. Many otherwise intelligent people will heed the advice of and form their own opinions based on sources not qualified to exercise that power on the minds of others.
There is a saying, if your pipes were leaking at home, would you call a plumber or car mechanic? The answer is so obvious you will have decided in a millisecond to call on the person most qualified for the job in hand.
Yet if it’s that obvious, why do so many listen to, often well-meaning family, friends, acquaintances and the media, every one of whom has an opinion based on their own reasoning or purpose, not yours, and boy will they share that opinion with you and often in minute detail. If you allow these non-qualified ‘experts’ to control your thoughts and decisions – you can pretty much guarantee success in anything will be elusive.
Around the year 500 AD., Alexander the Great took the decision to burn his boats almost immediately after landing on the shores of Persia. Although vastly outnumbered, his decision left him and his men with little choice but to succeed by defeating the Persian army and certainly encouraged their unwavering commitment to achieving their end goal.
That decision, made all those years ago still provides and important clue to one of the secrets to real success –Decide FAST and stick to your decision, if you have to change anything, do it slowly.
As pointed out in this chapter - You have a brain and mind of your own. USE IT, to reach your own decisions. If you need facts, information or advice from others, seek it from those who are qualified to give it, usually member of your Mastermind Group or other recognised leaders in the field you have decided to build your fortune in.
