Chapter 1 - Thoughts Are Things
Hill writes "Edison stated I gave him (Barnes) the opportunity he asked for,
because I saw he had made up his mind to stand by until he succeeded."
Barnes was ready for a business association with Edison, moreover, he was
DETERMINED TO REMAIN READY UNTIL HE GOT THAT WHICH HE WAS SEEKING.
He had no money to begin with. He had but little education. He had no influence.
But he did have initiative, faith, and the will to win. With these intangible
forces he made himself number one man with the greatest inventor who ever lived."
W. Clement Stone tells us "Your most precious, valued possessions and your
greatest powers are invisible and intangible. No one can take them. You, and you alone,
can give them. You will receive abundance for your giving."
Barnes had those intangible forces and he shared his "intangible forces".
Something important was happening in Barnes’ mind. Barnes was constantly
intensifying his DESIRE to become the business associate of Edison.
Because he did not give up, he received the abundance of a partnership with Edison.
Thoughts are intangible forces. We all have thoughts. Do we use our thoughts,
as Barnes did, to gain what we are seeking?
Robert Herjavec shares with us "What is great about entrepreneurship is that
entrepreneurs create the tangible from the intangible.
