Chapter 8 Decision: Mastering Procrastination

The fifty-six men who signed the Declaration of Independence
staked their lives on the decision to affix their signatures to
that document. Unlike these men anyone who reaches a definite
decision to procure a particular job, or make life pay the price
he asks, does not stake his life on that decision; he stakes his
financial freedom. Financial independence, riches, desirable
business, and professional positions are not within reach of the
person who neglects or refuses to expect, plan, and demand these
things. The person who desires riches in the same spirit that
Samuel Adams desired freedom for the Colonies, is sure to accumulate
wealth. Definiteness of decision always requires courage, sometimes
very great courage.

Most of us came to Mentoring for Free looking for answers. We had
been following paths that just had not worked for us. We may have
felt the pressure of failures and frustrations, wondering why others
have succeeded, and not me. Here we learned not only “It’s not your
fault”, but why it is not and how to fix it. Here we find a mastermind
of harmonious people following those who guide us in learning “How to
think, not what to think!” Giving us the skills necessary for personal
development, branding ourselves, and building a successful business.

The choice before each of us is “will I make a decision and take the
necessary action or follow the path or put off doing anything and continue
to just procrastinate.” How many have asked for the e-book ‘Success
in 10 Steps” not does download the book? Some get the book and even
read the book but take no action. Others come to a few of the calls
but will not do a coaching call and soon fall off the radar never to be
heard again,

I have to ask myself, “Am I going sit on the fence, just stand on the
sideline, or am I going to decide to do something, be coachable, and
take action every day?” I have made my choice:

"I, Nathan Grimes, am a person with integrity, a great attitude, and
specific goals. I have a high energy level, am enthusiastic, and take
pride in my appearance and what I do. I have a sense of humor, lots of
faith, wisdom, and the vision and courage to use my talents effectively.
I choose to be someone others can trust and follow. I am moving, will
you go with me.”

“Inability to make decisions is one of the principal reasons executives
fail. Deficiency in decision-making ranks much higher than lack of
specific knowledge or technical know-how as an indicator of leadership
failure” John C. Maxwell

Thanks to Linda and Michael Dlouhy for being a living example of following
the path of definiteness of decision. My gratitude to everyone who participates
in the mastermind and the brilliance you bring to each weekly call.
