CHAPTER 2 Desire: The Starting
Point of All Achievement
Just as all thought is a thing, there is no follow-through without
desire. As Hill says in the title of this chapter Desire is the
starting point of all achievement. Even the scripture echoes this
idea, “Where there is no vision, the people perish; but he that
keeps the law, happy is he.” Proverbs 29:18
“You may as well know, right here, that you can never have riches
in great quantities, unless you can work yourself into a white heat
of desire for money, and actually believe you will possess it.”
Desire put Edwin Barnes in that boxcar. Desire bolstered him as he
stood before the famous Thomas Edison. Desire fueled his determination
to do whatever it took for a long as it took to fulfill his vision of
being in business with Mr. Edison. As Mr. Hill wrote, “Barnes succeeded
because he chose a definite goal, placed all his energy, all his will-
power, all his effort, everything back of that goal. He did not become
the partner of Edison the day he arrived. He was content to start in the
most menial work, as long as it provided an opportunity to take even one
step toward his cherished goal.”
It starts with a thought, stirred by desire, formulating a plan, and
putting action behind the plan. Interestingly enough that is the same
way it happens today. Be it choosing a lifetime mate, starting a
business, or anything else in life these are the same steps to be taken.
“What does it take to be a champion? Desire, dedication, determination,
concentration, and the will to win.” Patty Berg
How is that “money conscious” barometer working out? It is high enough to
stir the desire to see in the mind the fixed amount of money wanted, the
exchange is given for its obtainment and the time frame for receiving it.
Have the plans been laid, written out, read aloud daily to make an implant
deep with the subconscious, and back by action?
This is the daily message I give myself in everything I do. For me to be
better, I must work at being better as a person, mentor, and network
marketer willing to do whatever it takes for as long as it takes.
“Never let your head hang down. Never give up and sit down and grieve.
Find another way.” Satchel Paige
