Chapter 2 Desire.

Hill writes "Desire is the starting point of all achievement" and "Wishing will not bring riches.

"We can literlly think ourselves into the life, the occupations, the relationships and financials
positions we desire. Our goals can be realized, if we truly realize they are often just on the
other side of temporary defeat.

This wes realized by the little girl who needed fifty cent, Ford who wanted a V-8 engine and
Mr Darby who would not stop when the customer said No. Their success came just one step
beyond that point."

George Freelen

“It is a remarkable illustration of the power of a definite desire.

Barnes won his goal because he wanted to be a business associate
of Mr. Edison, more than he wanted anything else. He created a plan
by which to attain that purpose. But he burned all the bridges behind
. He stood by his desire until it became the dominating obsession
of his life—and—finally, a fact.” Napoleon Hill

I now realize it is time for self-analysis and ask myself if I have just
been just hoping and wishing for all this time.

There is an old saying your thoughts are what you want and your actions determine
what you get. More importantly how badly do you want to hit the next rank?

Are you willing to DO THE WORK and improve yourself on building rapport? Because
if there is no rapport then there is no relationships & no keeping them as a friend either.
Due to that a person eventually goes BROKE.

It is no different than a professional athlete who made millions in two years initially set
up for taking a job as an option for 40 years rather than a priority. But lost it all within 5 years.

Lawrence Bergfeld
Our 'Why” should not be in the negative emotions of envying what others have.  It should
also not be in what others can do for us or what we can get from them.  Our “why” or “desire”,
which ever you want to call it, should be a personal strength of feeling that moves us to action
so strong that whatever obstacles come in our way we view as stepping stones.

If our desire is for  physical things like a car or a bigger home, what happens to us once we attain
that car or home?  Most physical things do not bring to us the lasting happiness we thought it would.

Doing our “why” can sometimes be confusing and I believe we do not always
understand what it really is and how powerful it can be until we “get it”.

Some time ago I began reading "Think and Grow Rich". I had red it a number of times before
that. I remember when I got to Chapter 4 on Autosuggestion I decided to memorize Carnegie's
Formula to see if it worked. I started out with a modest amount of money, $20,000 in a six month
period of time.

Six months after starting these spaced repetitions I began a new job with a firm in Jericho, New
York. A few days after getting started I was given the assignment of delivering a contract to a new
customer. AT&T in midtown Manhattan. So I took the train to Penn station and continued on the A
Train to midtown and the AT&T offices. Later on in the week I flew back to Denver.

The day after returning I found in my mail box a check for $20,000! The commission check for the
AT&T contract! Amazing. For some reason I never tried to repeat it. I think I'll try again!

I believe working smart looks like this, learn how to think not what to think, learn how to set goals,
where do I want  to be five years from now, I am taking on a project, what Specialized knowledge
do I need? I must continue to learn and bring out the best within me, in all areas in my life!

This is what working hard looks like, I go to and from work every day, I don't have time to do my
own thinking, I let the TV and family and friends do all my thinking for me. I am working hard on
the job, I take all the over time I can get, some way some how everythings going to work out.

I will not quit!

Hill tells us that “there is one quality which one must possess to win, and that is DEFINITENESS
OF PURPOSE, the knowledge of what one wants, and a burning DESIRE to possess it. And
he also says You may as well know, right here, that you can never have riches in great quantities,
UNLESS you can work yourself into a white heat of DESIRE for money, and actually BELIEVE
you will possess it

Barnes never treated his dream and burning desire like a hobby. He never put it SECOND to
ANYTHING. It always was THE MAIN THING. When your dream is THE MAIN THING and
you burn all bridges for retreat you cannot fail, you might run into roadblocks and delays but

You cannot judge a book by the Appearance of the Cover. I have read a number of books with a
plain Jane cover. that turned out to be life changing.  The same goes for some movies I have
watched over the course of my life.

Many will say he was lucky and in the right place at the right time.  False!   Barnes was there
because he kept his eye on the prize for five years and kept the mindset.  He was there to go
into business with Edison and was sticking too it.

For many years my own desire has been improved health. It started many years ago after being
told that I was needing to change health or would be up for Diabetes or similar. I am refusing to
give up. Despite many injuries, it’s just keeping ongoing.

My desire for better health has been going on for so long, to overcome all those injuries they are
an advantage and will give a huge advantage. Its time to become that healthier guy.

NOTHING CAN STOP ME...well I could finish this lesson here.

Nothing will stop me if my desire is strong enough.
Desire is organism, which lives and which I need to train everyday without doubts.
Jacob Domagalski Poznan.

When I really Sat down and evaluate this A little deeper I came to a Conclusion That A burning
desire consumes you so much it won't let you sleep sometimes! You will eat, drink, sleep and
vision this with no return of failure. A burning desire is a pledge you make to yourself as a
Prophecy that is to be fulfilled. with no options for retreat. Till death do us part I will say. It Must be.

When you combine a definite goal with a burning desire to achieve that goal, it will provide you
with the necessary fuel (motivation, drive, stamina) to create and execute a plan that will allow
you to realize that goal successfully.

Being in this Mentoring For Free, Think and Grow Rich Mastermind Group has really helped anchor me.  This would have been a great experience 50 years ago, though it is NEVER too late.  I am more certain of myself now than in the many positions I have held where people thought I had it together.

For some reason, I have often been put in leadership positions, yet never felt like a leader.  Now, thanks to Linda & Michael Dlouhy and the Mentoring For Free program, I feel ready to move ahead as a leader.    Before I felt like a car with the gas pedal to the floor, yet the gear was still in neutral!  I’m filling my tank with that “white heat” of desire, mixed with belief.  I am at peace with myself and prepared to do the work. Thanks to all of you who make this a safe, fun and encouraging experience!

“Mother nature bends to the power of desire” ….. “Through some strange and powerful principle of “mental chemistry” which she has never divulged, Nature wraps up in the impulse of STRONG DESIRE “that something” which recognizes no such word as impossible,  and accepts no such reality as failure.”

“Strange and imponderable is the power of the human mind! We do not understand the method by which it uses every circumstance, every individual, every physical thing within its reach, as a means of transmuting DESIRE into its physical counterpart.”

Abigail Dantzie.
