“In addition to the Six Basic Fears (poverty, criticism, ill-health,
loss of love, old age, and death), there is another evil by which
people suffer. It constitutes a rich soil in which the seeds of
failure grow abundantly. It is so subtle that its presence often is
not detected. This affliction cannot properly be classed as a fear. It is more deeply seated and more often fatal than all of the six
fears. For want of a better name, let us call this evil susceptibility
to negative influences.
“Men who accumulate great riches always protect themselves against this
evil! The poverty-stricken never do! Those who succeed in any calling
must prepare their minds to resist evil. If you are reading this
philosophy for the purpose of accumulating riches, you should examine
yourself very carefully, to determine whether you are susceptible to
negative influences. If you neglect this self-analysis, you will forfeit
your right to attain the object of your desires” Napoleon Hill.
The longer I have thrived to build a networking business the more important
it has become to avoid and negate the negative influence were surrounds
me. I have chosen to escape the negative influence of past events, the
seeds of pessimism plant by even well-meaning family members, teachers,
preachers, and friends. To run fast and hard from the gloom advocated
by daily news reports, newspapers, and social media. Never look at the
future with fear and doubt both personally and in building a business.
The scripture even warns, “Abstain from every form of evil.”
Now I am not calling everyone evil, but the negativity being propagated
has pushed the majority of the population to live in fear, doubts, suspension,
and anger all of which are dangerous to the health, prosperity, and joy of all.
I witnessed such negativity on my recent trip to Tennessee. I had stopped to
get a room for the night. The man in front of me was shouting, cursing, and
incredibly angry all because the clerk said the room was not quite ready and
it takes just a few minutes to finish. More anger exploded with things being
thrown around and a phone nearly torn from the wall, then storming out and
angrily driving away.
To shield me from such negativity, be it of my making or that of actions or
words of other people, I must recognize that I have willpower and put it to
use. I choose to build a wall immunity against any and all negative influences.
I know that the best way to build my willpower and shield myself starts with my
self-talk, staying away from the world’s negative influencers, and being part of a
harmonious mastermind where is found encouraging and positive messages. I
grateful that is what I have found with Mentoring for Free. Today, my future
is even brighter and filled with hope because of the group.
Thanks to Linda and Michael Dlouhy for the encouragement and support I received
over the time I have been here. Many thanks to everyone who participates in the
weekly calls with words of encouragement and support.
PS: “There is a huge difference between failing and failure. Failing is trying
something that you learn doesn't work. Failure is throwing in the towel and
giving up. True success comes from failing repeatedly and as quickly as possible,
before your crash or your willpower runs out.” Jay Samit
