Hill tells us in the previous chapter on fear that “BEFORE you can put any portion of this philosophy into successful use, your mind must be prepared to receive it. The preparation is not difficult. It begins with study, analysis, and understanding of three enemies which you shall have to clear out.
These are INDECISION, DOUBT, and FEAR!”
Edison said “when a man really DESIRES a thing so deeply that he is willing to stake his entire future on a single turn of the wheel in order to get it, he is sure to win.” and he also said “I saw he had made up his mind to stand by until he succeeded” What Hill said here sums it up completely....It was what he THOUGHT that counted. If the significance of this statement could be conveyed to every person who reads it, there would be no need for the remainder of this book.
If Barnes had had one bit of doubt or indecision about whether he should go or not this story would have not been told. His DESIRE was so strong that he never let fear set in. He took action and hopped right on the train and gave it everything he had. He staked his whole future on that decision to go.
