Chapter 9,
Persistence,
Think And Grow Rich Lessons!
There are four simple steps which lead to the habit
of Persistence. They call for no great amount of
intelligence, no particular amount of education, and but
little time or effort. The necessary steps are:-
1 A definite purpose backed by burning desire for its
fulfillment.
2 A definite plan, expressed in continuous action.
3 A mind closed tightly against all negative and
discouraging influrnces, including negative suggestions
of relatives, friends and acquaintances.
4 A friendly alliance with one or more persons who will
encourage one to follow through with both plan and
purpose. (Napoleon Hill)
WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF YOU KNEW YOU WOULD NOT FAIL?
What does that mean? I use to have a hard time with that
statement. I think its safe to say we can all look back into
our past and find those times in our life when we had all
four steps working for us. I can remember growing up and
the first big mile stone I came up against in my life, riding
a bicycle on 2 wheels. I had some friends that were riding
bicycles, I had been putting it off, I made the Decision I had
to learn how, and I have to do it now. On a Friday
afternoon, I borrowed my sisters bicycle, in our large
front yard I had plenty of room and some nice soft grass
to fall on. For a while it did not seem like I was getting
anywhere, I went through a lot of falling down and getting
back up, I did not know it at that time, I now know I was
failing forward.
When ever we have these four simple steps in place we
will not fail. Remember, some projects are going to take
longer then others, it took Napoleon Hill a little over 20
years to write Think And Grow Rich. It took me 60 years
to realize my thinking was all messed up. My Desire now
it's to continue to learn and fail forward.
A big thank you to my Master Mind friends for helping me
to learn how to think, not what to think.
