Chapter 1 - Thoughts Are Things
A man is but the product of his thoughts and what he thinks,
he becomes. Mahatma Gandhi
When a lot of people hear this idea they do not want to accept
it because they say they would never purposely have wanted to be
where they are now in their life. They would want to be more successful
financially and personally.
R. D. Laing is quoted as saying "The range of what we think and do
is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that
we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change;
until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts
It is like when we buy a new car. We never noticed that model until we
bought the car and now all of a sudden that model is everywhere. Well, they
were everywhere before, we just failed to notice them.
Most people do not notice what they think about all day, unless it is
something they are concerned about, interested in, or something that
makes a difference in their life. Thoughts are just thoughts and as
humans, we are used to thoughts just being there.
Then some of us find Mentoring for free where "You Learn How to Think,
Not What to Think." We become critical thinkers and we begin to watch all
the things we say and think and do.
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe stated "Thinking is easy, acting is difficult,
and to put one's thoughts into action is the most difficult thing in the world."
When we let our thoughts just be thoughts we were not worried about the
results because we did not realize the impact they could have. But now
that we have come to understand that "thoughts are things" it is not as
easy because we now know how critical thoughts can be to where
we are going in life.
Wayne Dyer stated "Thoughts are mental energy; they're the currency that you
have to attract what you desire. Learn to stop spending that currency
on thoughts you don't want."
