Chapter 1 The Man Who “THOUGHT” His Way
into Partnership with Thomas A. Edison

What you do with a “Thought”? I am sitting in front of my compute
with thoughts about what I want to write. Earlier this morning I
was in the kitchen with thoughts about what to cook for lunch. I
had a check given to me and a thought about what I needed to do
with it.

For anyone of those thoughts to have any value I had to take some
kind of action. So, for the thoughts on lunch, I decided to make a
pot of beef stew. I prepared the 2 lbs. of beef I had cut it into
1-inch cubes, cutting up some potatoes, carrot, celery, and onion.
I put all the ingredients in a crockpot added water and spices and
turning the pot on high. At 1:00 Connie and I enjoy a hot beef stew.
Just think it all started with a thought.

“Gold Fever” was run high and the uncle of R. U. Darby had the thought
“I want some of that gold.” Upon finding the precious ore he returns
home to get financial support to start the mining operation. With R.U
at his side, they started the mining operation with promising results
in the beginning. When the returns ceased another “thought” a negative
one this time raised its ugly head “Let’s just quit!”.

Whether a thought is positive or negative it is the desire and action
we put behind that bring reality to that thought. The positive thought
and action will take us to the gold while negative ones say “I can’t”,
“It won’t work” or “I quit” only to learn that we were just 3-feet from
the prize.

“Before success comes in any man’s life, he is sure to meet with much
temporary defeat, and, perhaps, some failure. When defeat overtakes a
man, the easiest and most logical thing to do is to QUIT. That is
exactly what the majority of men do. More than five hundred of the most
successful men this country has ever known told the author their greatest
success came just one step beyond the point at which defeat had overtaken
them. Failure is a trickster with a keen sense of irony and cunning. It
takes great delight in tripping one when success is almost within reach”
Napoleon Hill

Most people come to network marketing when a thought was planted in their
mind, “This can be a way to make some extra money.” Some share that thought
with family members, friends, or some naysayers who drive those thoughts
away. Others start running with the thought with some success then life
happens, they discover work and skills are necessary, so they throw up their
hands with an “I quit” not know how close to the tipping point they were.

Like Darby, I have chosen to take to failures of the past as steppingstone
to go for the gold and prosperity that God has for me. I witness more every
day just how much abundance I have. The love I have for and from Connie,
our sons and grandkids, friends, and a team who supports me. Every day I
see the doors of prosperity opening wider. All of this and more which started
with a “Thought”.

Thanks to Linda and Michael Dlouhy your thoughts brought about the creation
of this mastermind Mentoring for Free enabling each of us to develop our
thoughts into a passion. My love and gratitude to everyone participating in
‚Äčthe weekly call and the value you bring to my life.
