Hill tells us that “All down the ages, the religionists have admonished struggling humanity to “have faith” in this, that, and the other dogma or creed, but they have failed to tell people HOW to have faith.” It’s not like the old Nike motto, just do it! You have to know how to do it. “They have not stated that “faith is a state of mind, and that it may be induced by self-suggestion.”
Listening to a Big Al recording he talks about a sponsor who tells him to just go out and talk to a lot of people and be positive in response to his concern about his lack of success at that point..It’s the same thing when someone tells you “ just have faith”. Hard to do when everything is going wrong and you don’t know how to change the thoughts that many times got you there to start with. Big Al finally had success when he learned a few skills. There is a skill to help you culitvate your belief and it’s self talk. Self talk creates a positive mindset and develops the belief you need to make your prayer to God happen.
Harv Eker says that “ 80% of your success comes down to when you believe it”
And Bruce Wilkerson says “ It’s only what you believe will happen and therefore do next ( which is taking the action ) that will bring about a life change”
So the question is how do we create that belief? Again Hill tells us “It is a well known fact that one comes, finally, to BELIEVE whatever one repeats to one’s self, whether the statement be true or false.” So again going back to the first paragraph the answer is self talk.
Finally, God is not a genie that pops out of a bottle just by rubbing it and doing nothing else, giving you everything you want. We have to take action.
