Autosuggestion is the fulcrum upon which the whole philosophy of Think and Grow Rich revolves. All the other principles, described in the chapters on, Desire, Faith, Specialized Knowledge, Imagination, Organized Planning, Decision, Persistence, The Mastermind, Sex Transmutation, The Subconscious Mind, The Brain, The Sixth Sense are but tools with which to apply autosuggestion or self-talk. It is the means by which you control your mind by passing on your heartfelt desires to your subconscious mind, the controller of your habitual thoughts and actions.
The subconscious mind is the garden with which, by positive life-sustaining thoughts, we cultivate with beautiful flowers and fruitful plants or permit wayward, corrupt thoughts to cause weeds to grow there. Hill says: “Recall what has been said about the subconscious mind resembling a fertile garden spot, in which weeds will grow in abundance if the seeds of more desirable crops are not sown therein”. By saying our self-talk, based upon our desires or purposes, we commence weeding the garden of the subconscious mind: we begin to know ourselves as we really are and discover what is holding us back. To be effective, self-talk must be concentrated and focused and infused with a positive emotion like faith or love: it’s not an involuntary exercise and your heart must be in it. Hill states: “Remember, therefore, when reading aloud the statement of your desire (through which you are endeavouring to develop a money consciousness), that the mere reading of the words is of no consequence – unless you mix emotion or feeling with your words”. Full belief in the attainment of your purpose does not need to be present in the beginning. Visualize and feel the desired goal until it becomes an obsession and you will become a true believer.
When you constantly and earnestly ask your subconscious mind to hand over a plan for the achievement of your life desire, it will enlist the aid of Infinite Intelligence and communicate to your imagination intimations of a plan by which it can be attained. When you receive those intimations through the sixth sense, do not ignore them; write them down and act upon them immediately.
Regards and best wishes to all.
