Think and Grow Rich – Chapter 2 – DESIRE
The First Step toward Riches
This time through chapter 2 has been more motivating to me than any previous reading. For me, it has been the chapter of BURNING PAST FAILURES.
Barnes BURNED all his bridges and only visibly focused on his desire of becoming Edison’s partner in business. No obstacle interrupted his vision. “It was the dominating DREAM OF HIS LIFE.”
The warrior leaving the boats with his soldiers BURNED his boats, leaving his soldiers only the alternatives of winning the battle or death.
Marshall Field watched his store BURN to the ground in the Chicago fire and visualized a bigger, greater store. He amazingly was the only merchant of those whose businesses were destroyed who stayed to rebuild it stronger and bigger than before. His became a major global company. He totally overcame the devastation of the fire.
So these men have inspired me to more clearly live my vision of building my Network Marketing business. I am 'BURNING' all the materials and memories I still have cluttering my house (hence my mind) that are from other companies I’ve worked with in the past.
Currently, I’m in the middle of tossing old notebooks and trainings and focusing ONLY on building the one company I have been lead to through much frustration. I no longer need to have these things or be reminded of the anxiety I felt in former years. I’m clearing my shelves of anything that is from my network marketing past and rekindling a belief in myself. I’m forgiving myself for past failure that may or may not have been my fault.
With this done, I can follow Hill’s plan to strengthen my desire “with a state of mind that becomes an obsession, then plan definite ways and means to acquire riches, and back those plans with persistence which does not recognize failure.”
Thanks to Michael & Linda Dlouhy for persisting with us and challenging us to continue to grow.
