Chapter 8 - Decision
Hill tells us "It is characteristic of people who have but a smattering
or a veneer of knowledge to try to give the impression that they have much knowledge."
The majority of people who fail to accumulate money sufficient for
their needs, are, generally, easily influenced by the “opinions” of others."
And Hill also tells us "If you are influenced by the opinions of others,
you will have no DESIRE of your own."
Sometimes as people we can be so silly. We listen to other people
and let them do our thinking for us, especially when it comes to our
business. When we began to date, did we let our family and friends
tell us who we should date and who we should not. When we met our spouse,
did we let anyone tell us we should not marry that person or did we
just marry them anyway. I believe we married them because we loved them
and we married them anyway, no matter what anyone else thought.
We then get into business and all of a sudden our family and friends
are the experts and we listen and believe them. What happened to our
love? We love this business. It may not be the same kind of love as
we have for our spouse but it is still love. We love what we do.
When someone is not building a business like we are they just do not
understand what we see, just like they do not see what we see in our
spouse. This business is not for everyone. Our spouse is not for everyone
This chapter is about decision. We need to make the decision to build
our business no matter what anyone else thinks. We are the only ones
who need to understand what this business means to us and why we are
putting the time in to build it. What anyone else thinks about what we
are doing DOES NOT MATTER and as Michael Dlouhy says "IT IS NON
OF OUR BUSINESS WHAT OTHERS THINK OF US."
Tony Robbins tells us "Using the power of decision gives you the capacity
to get past any excuse to change any and every part of your life IN AN INSTANT.
Letting others influence our business is just an excuse to not do it.
Any excuse will do if we are looking for one. That gives us a reason
to say it was not our fault.
The bottom line is "Do we really want what this business can give us
or are we just playing the game?"
Caroline Kennedy stated "When you make the right decision, it doesn't
really matter what anyone else thinks.
There is a saying "If you love what you do, you will never work a day
in your life."
Another way to look at it is "If you love what you do, you will never
worry about what other people think."
Herbert V. Prochnow stated "There is a time when we must firmly choose
the course which we will follow or the endless drift of events will make
the decision for us."
Ralph Waldo Emerson stated "Once you make a decision, the universe
conspires to make it happen."
So why do we listen to the nay sayers when we can have the universe
helping us make it happen?
