The Fourth Step toward Riches

I am living proof that general knowledge is of little use in the accumulation of money. I had gotten a BS in Math with a strong minor in Computer Science. That was in Jan, 1972.

None of that college training, general knowledge, prepared me for what I was to find in Network Marketing when I joined my first company in Feb, 1998.

I was told to buy leads, then just go do it. Just talk to people and call leads.

In 2000, the company had a person develop an autoresponder. Then an agreement was arranged with a bank to get a credit card to buy leads and have them put in the autoresponder.

People were buying leads on their credit card and not having any success enrolling people. Then they were stuck with a bill they couldn't pay.

They drank the cool-aid.

This was approved by leadership and company owners. At least company owners didn't do anything to  stop it.

Fortunately, I had enough sense to know not to go into any debt for leads. If I got 2% to take a look at what I was doing, I was lucky.

When that first company was sold, I joined, what I now know to have been affiliates. Again buying leads. Leads that were fresh hot leads, at most 3 days old. People just waiting to be called. From the  first 100, I did talk to about 30. All of them said they were not interested in any home business. Didn't know how I got their information. Most had been called several times and were at least 3 months old.

My next real company had very good products and a medical doctor we got to know very well. But there was no training, absolutely none.

Then in Sept, 2012, I found Mentoring For Free. It was exactly what I was looking for and searching for. Talk about recognizing accurate, truthful information. I had lived those examples of what that ebook said not to do.

It took me about 6 months before I missed one call, then it was only one for some period of time. I had found a tool, the ebook, I could promote, get downloads and talk to people. I began learning what to say and how to talk to people. And it did not cost me an arm and a leg. It was only $19.95 a month. Michael talks about it in Chapter 7 of Success In 10 steps.

I had finally found Specialized Knowledge. A place where I could learn the skills I needed to grow my mindset and to learn how to talk to people and build relationships. A complete system.

My comment for a long time was, I felt I had died and gone to heaven. I had found a home.
