Think and Grow Rich
The statement that made the most impact on me was; “NO THOUGHT, whether it be negative or positive, CAN ENTER THE SUBCONSCIOUS MIND...”.
Napoleon then points out that WE have “Absolute Control” over what we think and what enters our mind.
I think back to the time when I was a child and heard my sister say to me “mom never wanted you”. She only said it once or twice, but it stuck. (Siblings can be cruel sometimes.) But her words weren't the only negative words that I heard as a child and I carried them all into my adulthood, I believed I wasn't any good, I wasn't wanted by anyone, that I would never amount to anything. It has taken years of work/mind control to overcome those thoughts and the feelings that accompany them. I remember hearing, I think from Dr. Wayne Dyer, that it takes 1000 positive statements to a child to undo 1 negative statement. The thing I remember is that I felt so bad about myself, when I was a child, that whenever a teacher or another adult said anything remotely sounding like a criticism, I felt I wasn't good enough.
Today-I'm good. I can tell the difference between an innocuous statement and one that is negative. I can also laugh at myself and don't mind if I'm the butt of someones joke. However, I am much more aware of what others are saying to their children and how damaging I know it can be. But I also hear parents praising and loving on their children and I know that these children are going to have a much easier time in life.
Getting back to auto-suggestion: We hear things and we internalize them and if we are not aware of the negative it will stick with us until we start denying those negative thoughts and replacing positive ones.
Thanks to everyone in our mastermind group that has helped me become more aware of my thoughts.
