Chapter 9 Persistence: The Sustained Effort
Necessary to Induce Faith.
“Those who have cultivated the habit of persistence seem
to enjoy insurance against failure.” Napoleon Hill
We are called to return chapter 2 as the first test of our persistence.
We are told it begins by following the six steps described in the second chapter:
Fix in your mind the exact amount of money you desire.
Determine exactly what you intend to give in return for
the money you desire.
Establish a definite date when you intend to possess the
money you desire.
Create a definite plan for carrying out your desire, and
begin at once, whether you are ready or not, to put this
plan into action.
Write out a clear, concise statement of the amount of money
you intend to acquire, name the time limit for its
the acquisition, state what you intend to give in return for the
money, and describe clearly the plan through which you intend
to accumulate it.
Read your written statement aloud, twice daily, once just before
retiring at night, and once after arising in the morning. AS YOU
READ—SEE AND FEEL AND BELIEVE YOURSELF ALREADY IN POSSESSION OF
Just think only two out of every hundred already have a DEFINITE GOAL
on which to aim, and a DEFINITE PLAN for getting it. I have chosen to one
of the two.
I had found myself weak in persistence, which is the very reason I am in
this mastermind, MentoringforFree. Here I have surrounded myself with a
“mastermind” group, and through the cooperative efforts of the members of
this group, I have found and develop persistence. With the encouragement of
Michael Dlouhy, Bob Shoaf, and Ken Klemm, I follow their instruction on
using autosuggestion or self-talk, planting within the subconscious mind the
positive messages to build a sound and better future. By following the instructions
outlined in these chapters I am working to build habits necessary for
that future, creating a clear picture of the object of my desire.
“If you select your “Master Mind” group with care, you will have in it,
at least one person who will aid you in the development of PERSISTENCE.
Some men who have accumulated great fortunes did so because of NECESSITY.
They developed the habit of PERSISTENCE because they were so closely
driven by circumstances, that they had to become persistent.” Napoleon Hill.
We create our reality for the future by flowing these principles:
A definite purpose backed by a burning desire for its fulfillment.
A definite plan expressed in continuous action.
A mind closed tightly against negative and discouraging influences.
A friendly alliance with one or more persons who will encourage one
to follow through with both plan and purpose.
