CHAPTER 4 - AUTO-SUGGESTION
FROM STUTTERER TO SUPERSTAR!!!
"Quirks might seem weird when you're young,
but they make you stand out when you're older,
and that's an important thing."
~ Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran stuttered and he wore oversized glasses. He had a lazy eye as a result of a bad surgery. He had severe speech problems. When he put his hand up in class, he froze & couldn't speak. He was always bullied, so he stopped talking in class.
He did, however, sing at church, and he played his guitar in his bedroom, where he felt in control.
Speech therapy didn't work, so he feared he's stutter forever.
His father bought him an Eminem record, and he learned every word of that fast-rapping music. Soon, his stuttering stopped and he began to write his own music & lyrics. He knew he was born to make music and he started playing at bars every night for 4 years. He played 12 shows weekly. If he couldn't find a couch, he slept in parks or in the subway. Some night were bad, when he had NO MONEY OR FOOD. He wanted to give up, BUT HE DIDN'T. He knew if he wanted to make it big, he'd have to move to AMERICA.
He moved to LA without a recording contract or a place to stay. He sent out his music to anyone who would listen, but heard nothing back ... until ONE DAY, he booked a show with a local radio host, Jamie Foxx, who pushed him up on stage.
TERRIFIED, he began to play. SLOWLY, the audience began to smile & sway. TWELVE MINUTES LATER, he got a standing ovation! Jamie Foxx was so impressed that he let Ed use his recording studio. Soon, Ed received a phone call from singer TAYLOR SWIFT! She asked him to go on TOUR WITH HER.
After YEARS OF HARD WORK, he FINALLY got his BIG BREAK!
His last album debuted at #1 in 14 COUNTRIES!
His songs & videos have been streamed BILLIONS & BILLIONS of times on Spotify & YouTube.
Not bad for a guy with ONE EARDRUM! Dispite his TWO GRAMMY AWARDS, his most prized award is for RAISING AWARENESS ON STUTTERING!
