Mark 11:24 says Therefore I tell you, whateveryouaskfor in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. Well how can you believe unless you have faith?
James 1: 5-8 tells usIf any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do. Verse 5 says if you lack wisdom ask but I believe that applies to anything you ask for.
Then there is that word believe again in verse 6. And I ask again how can you believe without faith? Hill tells us that “all down the ages, the religionists have admonished struggling humanity to “have faith” in this, that, and the other dogma or creed, but they have failed to tell people HOW to have faith. And he also tells us that faith is a state of mind, that it may be induced by self-suggestion and that repetition of affirmation of orders to your subconscious mind is the only known method of voluntary development of the emotion of faith.”
And that is good for me to know that there is a formula if you will for developing that faith. You see when I used to have a big pressing problem I would go to prayer praying something like this…Oh God please help me with (fill in the blank) If you don’t (name the outcome) is going to happen. Please please please help me with ….. That was not a prayer of faith but a prayer of desperation focused on a negative outcome and whatever you focus on expands and you just get more of it.
I love this chapter because of the fact that it teaches me HOW to have faith. Thank you, thank you, thank you Linda and Michael Dlouhy for all you do for us and to all my mastermind friends who share their brilliance with me each week.
