The Second Step toward Riches

Napoleon Hill starts his dissertation on Faith he states that FAITH is the head chemist of the mind. When FAITH is blended with the vibration of thought, the subconscious mind instantly picks up the vibration, translates it into its spiritual equivalent, and transmits it to (God) Infinite Intelligence, as in the case of prayer.

He points out that the emotions of FAITH, LOVE, and SEX are the most powerful of all the major positive emotions. When the three are blended, they have the effect of “coloring” the vibration of thought in such a way that it instantly reaches the subconscious mind, where it is changed into its spiritual equivalent, the only form that induces a response from (God) Infinite Intelligence.

Love and faith are psychic; related to the spiritual side of man. Sex is purely biological, and related only to the physical. The mixing, or blending, of these three emotions has the effect of opening a direct line of communication between the finite, thinking mind of man, and (God) Infinite Intelligence.

He then goes into talking about How To Develop Faith

He talks about the importance of the principle of auto-suggestion assumes in the transmutation of desire into its physical, or monetary equivalent; namely: FAITH is a state of mind which may be induced, or created, by affirmation or repeated instructions to the subconscious mind, through the principle of autosuggestion.

He used an illustration; consider the purpose for which you are, presumably, reading this book. The object is, naturally, to acquire the ability to transmute the intangible thought impulse of DESIRE into its physical counterpart, money. By following the instructions laid down in the chapters on auto-suggestion, and the subconscious mind, as summarized in the chapter on auto-suggestion, you may CONVINCE the subconscious mind that you believe you will receive that for which you ask, and it will act upon that belief, which your subconscious mind passes back to you in the form of “FAITH,” followed by definite plans for procuring that which you desire.

He states that Faith is a state of mind which you may develop at will, after you have mastered the thirteen principles, because it is a state of mind which develops voluntarily, through application and use of these principles. It is his premises that Repetition of affirmation of orders to your subconscious mind is the only known method of voluntary development of the emotion of faith.

As I am a Trustee Coach and Biblical Counselor and I have not read the chapters he has stated the secrets will be laid out for us to learn.  I would like to talk about my Faith.

We start out in the World living in the Natural as sinners-separated from God. Then we learn of Jesus and are baptized in water. Then we learn about God and the Holy Spirit by Hearing the Word of God being preached; we are living as Carnal Sinners. Then the baptizing of Holy Spirit who shows us what we are holding onto that keeps us separated from God and we repent and let that go so we can be Sanctified as we learn how to serve God. Then God the Father will burn the rest of the fleshly was off through the baptizing of Fire. Now God the Father can do His good work through us as He serves others via us. So now we are filled with the Glory of God in us. This is Glorification.

We, as self, are resting the lap of Jesus and serenaded to the Holy Spirit and now we are Trustees of God. We claim none of the Glory of what He is doing through us and we give Him all the Praise and Glory.

As this is how Jesus achieved perfect unity with the Father by submitting Himself, in body, mind and spirit, to the will of the Father. Referring to His Father, Jesus said, “I do always those things that please him” (John 8:29). Because it was the Father’s will, Jesus submitted even to death, “the will of the Son being swallowed up in the will of the Father.” His focus on the Father is one of the principal reasons Jesus’ ministry had such clarity and power. There was no distracting double-mindedness in Him.

In the same way, you and I can put Christ at the center of our lives and become one with Him as He is one with the Father (see  John 17:20-23). We could begin by stripping everything out of our lives.  I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (Romans 12:1-2)

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (2 Corinthians 5:17) .  We read in (Acts 17:27-29),  That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us: For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.  Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God.

This is where I bring in the Biblical Ontology of Being that calls you into Doing that you Have an result (Be-Do-Have). So let’s take a look at our old ways of being in the flash and take on His ways of Being by being Sanctified and sealed by the fruits of the Holy Spirit.

(Galatians 5:16-26) This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.  For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.  But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.  Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,  Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,  Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,  Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.  And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.  If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.  Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

(Acts 2:36-39) Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made the same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.  Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?  Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.  For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

(Mark 1:1-6) The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God;  As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.  The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.  John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.  And there went out unto him all the land of Judaea, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins.

(Romans 10:8-10) But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Now we have a road map to “How to Make Christ the Center of Our Lives” What must we do to keep Him at the center of our lives? In future post we can go over that.  Please let me know what is going on it your life and ask me some questions that I can assist you by addressing them.

Napoleon Hill ends this chapter with this:

RICHES begin in the form of THOUGHT! The amount is limited only by the person in whose mind the THOUGHT is put into motion. FAITH removes limitations!
