Chapter 15-Six Ghosts of Fear
To be successful in life we must understand by study and analysis the three main enemies which stand in our way. These are indecision, doubt and fear.Indecision is the seedling of fear. Indecision crystalizes into doubt and then the two blend into fear.
The six basic fears or the combination of which we all at one time or another suffer are fear of poverty, fear of criticism, fear of ill health, fear of loss of love of someone, fear of old age, and the fear of death.
Why are these six basic fears so prevalent in society. It is because our thoughts are influenced by thoughts that come from other people or the ether around us as well as our own thoughts.
When a person is young and their experiences are limited to their home environment and it is a loving environment fear is not present. It is only after this person is exposed to a broader environment that fear is introduced. I think back to when my son was a young boy and we had just arrived at a camping spot with a lake close by. My son walked out on the dock going out into the lake and was going to lean down and put his feet in the water that someone raced up to him and yelled,” Don’t do that keep your feet on the dock.” This voice was so frightening to my son that he burst into tears. It wasn’t the water but the voice of this person. He came running to me and was really frightened. It was a long time before he ventured out on a dock near water again. I must say he did conquer this fear and became a very good swimmer in his later years.
We are all presented with this kind of learning from a fearful voice in our younger years. It is only when we can take control of our own thoughts about a situation that we manage to get over such a fear.
It is amazing to me that this kind of fear was present in the early thirties of the last century that caused the depression in our country and the whole world. The thought of the leaders in the lands, voices of gloom and doom that influenced great numbers of people to accept the fear of poverty.
The election in our country at this time is another example of instilling fear into the minds of people. So many campaign posters are up that say sponsored by this group or that one that influence the minds of our people unless they take control of their own minds and study, and analyze what this is all about that will make it so people will use their our voice and mind to choose the best way to go. This is what we all need to pray for in this upcoming election.
It is what we need to keep in mind when we are working our businesses. Are we being influenced by the people we know, like and trust? Are we using our mind to know what our potential customers or distributors really want from us? Do we know that we can give them the value they are seeking? This is using our mind and which will keep us from being influenced by the fears lurking in the atmosphere.
