CHAPTER 15- HOW TO OUTWIT
THE SIX GHOSTS OF FEAR

"Worry weighs a person down; an encouraging word cheers
 a person up!"Proverbs 12:25

Worry as a verb is defined as giving way to anxiety or
unease; allow one's mind to dwell on difficulty or
troubles. As a noun, it is said to be a state of anxiety
and uncertainty over actual, potential, and imagery
 problems.

Have you heard of the man who suffered from 4 types of
worry: Things that might happen, Things that are happening,
Things that almost happened?  Things that should have
happened.  The reality all of it has just in his head or
imagination.

Worry is a state of mind based upon fear. It works slowly,
but persistently. It is insidious and subtle. Step by step
it "digs itself in" until it paralyzes one's reasoning
faculty, destroys self-confidence and initiative. Worry is
a form of sustained fear caused by indecision therefore it
is a state of mind which can be controlled.

themselves into themselves into their physical equivalent,
whether those thoughts are voluntary or involuntary.”
Napoleon Hill

Shortly after starting the ministry at my first church, I
was out visiting members of the congregation I order to get
to know them, I was visiting a member who had not been
attending for a period. What I discovered was a person full
of fears. Among her fears was the criticism, not the
criticism of others, but self-criticism. She just could
believe God could love her because of all the things she
has done years ago. No matter what I say to her of God’s love
and total forgiveness, how faith in God’s has forgotten
the past she just would not except it.

The sad part of all this is that it led to fear of illness,
putting her in a mental hospital. The fear of the loss of
love drive her family from her and the fear of death result
in her early death.

Every human being has the ability to completely control
his own mind
, and with this control, obviously, every person
may open his mind to the tramp thought impulses which are
being released by other brains or close the doors tightly
and admit only thought impulses of his own choice.” Napoleon
Hill

Worry and fear paralyzes, destroys, kills, undermines,
discourages, leads to uncertainty of purpose, encourages
procrastination wipes out enthusiasm and makes self-control
an impossibility. The only solution is to change ones
thinking. Move from the negative stinking thinks to positive
encouraging thoughts. Change the messages we are saying to
ourselves or the self-talk repeated 100’s times daily.
Change the “I am” messages we voluntarily or involuntarily
are saying to ourselves.

If only more people would make this move from negative to
positive thinking, how different this world would be. Just
remember, “A better world believes with ME!” I decide today
to change My thought, why? The only thing I control is “My”
thoughts. The only thing I can change is “My” thoughts. If
I change my world will change!
