Persistence Chapter IX
Once you have the tools for putting yourself in the driver's seat for success, the most important component , according to Napoleon Hill, could be Persistence. It means to go on resolutely in spite of opposition and remain tenacious and enduring in spite of un surmountable odds. However to make persistence work you also need faith, organized planning , strong desire for what you are doing and eliminate procrastination. In the pursuit of success, one often encounters setbacks and defeats and no matter how many times you encounter defeat, it is persistence that gets you back on track to continue in the pursuit of your goal. This is how you get the ball over the finish line and score the touch down. According to Napoleon Hill , the lack of persistence is one of the major causes of failure. Thomas Edison failed 1000 times before he invented the light bulb. What kept him going. It was persistence. The same can be said of Henry Ford when he invented the V8 engine. Though Ray Kroc pulled off many a questionable strategic moves with the MacDonald brothers, when asked for the secret to his success , he emphatically replied, "PERSISTENCE".
