Chapter 8, Decision.
The Mastery of Procrastination.
The Seventh Step towards Riches.
Procratination haunts the majority of mankind and is the major cause of failure. Decision on the other hand is a precursor to success. Successful people, we are told by Hill from his analysis of more than 25,000 successful people, make Descions quickly and decisively. They do not generally listen to opinions or gossip, basing the Descions they make on facts and inspiration received from the Universe.
Hill uses the example of the decisions of the 56 Members of the Council who drew up and signed the Delaration of Independence for America. The Descions that arose out of that Council were definite and by signing their names to it could have cost them their lives.
The Model 'T' Ford earned Henry Ford a reputation of being obstinate since he would not heed the opinions of his accosiates and customers. Hill goes on to point out that Ford's obstancy in not making changes netted him a fortune. In a previous chapter Ford's obstancy and a never give up attitude resulted in the one piece 'V' eight one piece engine casting. Ford believed that anything a man can conveive can be achieved.
To many people give up on their dreams because of listening to opinion, critism and ridicule. Those who put these aside and go with the hunches they receive are the ones who succeed.
Remember how you do anything is how you do everything, do you listen to opinion? I used to but not these days, I look at facts and make my Descions on those.
My thinking has changed from 'What to think to how to think''. This has resulted in Descions being made quickly and are definite.
