Chapter 14 : The Sixth Sense
The author, Mr. Hill refers to the Sixth Sense as the “thirteenth” principle. It is through this Sixth Sense that Infinite Intelligence may, and will communicate voluntarily, without any effort from, or demands by, the individual. However to develop the Sixth Sense requires first mastering the other twelve principles. Mr. Hill suggests the Sixth Sense is a portion of the subconscious mind, which he refers to as the Creative Imagination that he sees as the “receiving set” through which ideas, plans, and thoughts flash into the mind. These “flashes” are sometimes called “hunches” or “inspirations.” If one has managed to already program within themselves higher and more creative patterns of thinking and behavior then they can respond more effectively to external circumstances. However, to do this requires one to raise the level of one’s mental activity as Mr. Hill suggests through meditation and mind development from within. The Sixth Sense can be considered as what today is often referred to as the third eye and is found in Super consciousness. Knowledge and insights located in Super consciousness are received by the conscious mind through insights, hunches, inspirations and intuitions. Mr. Hill himself refers to the Sixth Sense as the medium of contact between the finite mind of man and Infinite Intelligence, a mixture of both the mental and the spiritual, the point at which the mind of man contacts the Universal Mind.
“Through the aid of the sixth sense, you will be warned of impending dangers in time to avoid them, and notified of opportunities in time to embrace them. There comes to your aid, and to do your bidding, with the development of the sixth sense, a “guardian angel” who will open to you at all times the door to the Temple of Wisdom.”
The truth of this statement depends upon each individual’s personal spiritual growth that in turn will have been determined by that individual’s personal aspirations. The heightened awareness that one acquires through personal spiritual growth equips one with the ability to empathetically, lovingly and creatively engage in the material world to add value to the lives of others as well as one’s own life.
