The Subconscious Mind
I had difficulty understanding how the subconscious mind functions. Even Napoleon Hill admits he has shortcomings in understanding how it works. He writes, "Through a method of procedure, unknown to man, the subconscious mind draws upon the forces of Infinite Intelligence for the power with which it voluntarily transmutes one's desires into their physical equivalent, making use always of the most practical media by which this end may be accomplished."He contends that the subconscious is an area of consciousness in which all thoughts, impulses, and desires are recorded. Furthermore, Napoleon Hill contends that the subconscious mind is a connecting link between the finite mind of man and Infinite Intelligence. Furthermore , the subconscious mind functions voluntarily whether you will it or not and it yields positive and negative thoughts. This necessitates that one must shut off the flow of negative thoughts and replace them with positive thoughts. The exercise of continued positive thinking takes constant practice. Positive and negative thoughts cannot hold possession of the mind at the same time. Through continued force of habit your mind can be trained so positive thoughts will dominate your thinking. We must filter out the negative and retain the positive.
