Chapter 15 How to Outwit the Six Ghosts of Fear
HOW TO OUTWIT THE SIX GHOSTS OF FEAR
Hill says, "Take Inventory of Yourself, and Find Out How Many of the “Ghosts” Are Standing in Your Way"
I have often been told by others who have mentored me, "Sherron, you simply have to get out of your own way." I don't think I ever really understood the true meaning of this statement until now after reading this chapter on FEAR. I know that Hill outlined this book a certain way and for a certain reason. But for me, now knowing how to think, I wish I would have read this chapter first only because I think I would have been set up better to receive the rest of this awesome information in the book. I know that's my green personality analyzing everything again, but at least now I understand better how all of this circle of life thing works. But I also understand why Hill explained himself as he did because this book lays the groundwork for changing your thinking, and once you are able to do that, then you are in position to deal with all of your fears because now we know HOW TO THINK AND WHAT NOT TO THINK.
Being in my own way is me really trying to deal with all of the fears that I have had since being here on earth living life. Hill tells us that before we can put any of this philosophy into motion, we must first be prepared to receive it. Now I know what it means when people say they have a fear of being successful, they're simply not ready to receive. Secondly we must understand through analysis and studying, the three clear cut enemies that we are up against whose soul purpose is to keep us from being successful. Man like I mentioned before, the next three words have definitely been my worst enemies. INDECISION, DOUBT, and FEAR. I truly understand my more the battle I am in.
Being indecisive on taking action will leave you in the same place that you are in now. Life is all about decisions, good ones and bad ones. It's up to us to choose the right path. I know that I have missed out on some good opportunities by being indecisive and not taking action. And again, Hill slaps me across the face with my next battle. Doubt. Doubting myself, probably doubting others, and definitely doubting a network marketing opportunity after all the hype wore off. I have literally watch some of my good friends become successful in network marketing, so no sense in doubting if network marketing works right? Well in the past I found a way to do it.
This all comes down to what am I afraid of, what is hold me back when I know where I want to be. It's all about me being in my own way. I have encountered all six of the fears Hill talks about at some point in my life. I know I have a fear of criticism and a very strong fear of loss. I have tried my best by myself on how to handle things. Some I have figured out and some I have not. But for some reason after going through this mental cleanse, and these think and grow rich lessons, I can really start building on not letting these fears control me because I understand them better. Fears are nothing more than states of mind. One's state of mind is subject to control and direction.
And who is at the control panel? I am. Who knows what direction I want to go? I do. It's up to me and it's nice to know that I have a bunch of friends and mentors here at mentoring for free to help me conquer all fears and help keep me on the path of being in the right state of mind on becoming successful. I cannot thank you enough for guiding me through these life lessons.
