Chapter 2: Desire
When I was going to High School, I wanted to be a Social Worker - I wanted to work with children who had been abused and neglected.
I would bring home, school friends who needed a bed and food for the night, it was my DESIRE to help them in any way I could!
I went to see the Scool Counsellor and tell her this is my career path, only to be told - You Wouldnt Be Good At It! This broke my heart, and I never spoke of it again.
I would still bring home my friends and help them out, but it wasn't the same - I felt like my heart wasn't in it anymore, maybe she was right I would tell myself, maybe its just a foolish dream, you're just being stupid.
But I still had a DESIRE to help people - I just didn't know what it looked like until I became a mum.
Fast forward to today and I look back on my career choices (Childcare, Fostercare and Aged Care) I have helped in more ways than I thought possible and its been so rewarding, both physically, mentaly and spiratualy.
I'm glad I didn't quit on my DESIRE :) and now I get to help my team, would be team members and my MFF peeps.
I love this quote by Napoleon Hill - 'Put your dream across, and never mind what “they” say if you meet with temporary defeat, for “they,” perhaps, do not know that EVERY FAILURE BRINGS WITH IT THE SEED OF AN EQUIVALENT SUCCESS'.
If you have a DESIRE to WIN, don't give up on your dreams.
