Chapter 6 - Imagination

When we first were introduced to Network Marketing, if you were like me, we had our
imagination "kick in" as they say, and began to think of all the things we could accomplish.
And then, we shared our dreams of what this business could do with our family and friends.
We expected them to be as excited as we were.  We found out quickly they were not excited.
in fact they told us "you could never do that" "that would never work", "that is a scam", "get
your head out of the clouds", etc. etc.

Some people at this point gave up on their dreams. Hill gives us example after example of
people who continued on despite rejection.

Hill tells us about Dr. Gunsaulus and how he attained a million dollars - "Being a philosopher
as well as a preacher, Dr. Gunsaulus recognized, as do all who succeed in life, that DEFINITENESS
OF PURPOSE is the starting point from which one must begin. He recognized, too, that definiteness
of purpose takes on animation, life, and power when backed by a BURNING DESIRE to translate
that purpose into its material equivalent.  He knew all these great truths, yet he did not know where,
or how to lay his hands on a million dollars. The natural procedure would have been to give up and
quit, by saying, “Ah well, my idea is a good one, but I cannot do anything with it, because I never can
procure the necessary million dollars.” That is exactly what the majority of people would have said,
but it is not what Dr. Gunsaulus said."

Mr. Gunsaulas went ahead and used his imagination to get the million dollars.  He did not listen to
that voice that said "I never can procure the necessary million dollars.”

Jesus Christ did not give up when the people he knew did not believe Him as we can read from Mark 6:1-6
Then He went out from there and came to His own country, and His disciples followed Him.
And when the Sabbath had come, He began to teach in the synagogue. And many hearing Him were
astonished, saying, "Where did this Man get these things? And what wisdom is this which is given to Him,
that such mighty works are performed by His hands!
Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary, and brother of James, Joseph, Judas, and Simon? And are not
His sisters here with us?" So they were offended at Him.
But Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his own country, among his own relatives, and in his own house."
Now He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them.
And He marveled because of their unbelief. Then He went about the villages in a circuit, teaching.

Jesus Christ continued teaching after the people in His own country rejected the message he brought to them.

Hill writes "Millions of people go through life hoping for favorable “breaks.” Perhaps a favorable break can get
one an opportunity, but the safest plan is not to depend upon luck. It was a favorable “break” that gave me the
biggest opportunity of my life— but—twenty- five years of determined effort had to be devoted to that opportunity
before it became an asset."

"The favorable break came through Carnegie, but what about the DETERMINATION, DEFINITENESS OF
PURPOSE, and the DESIRE TO ATTAIN THE GOAL, and the PERSISTENT EFFORT OF TWENTY-FIVE
YEARS? It was no ordinary DESIRE that survived disappointment, discouragement, temporary defeat,
criticism, and the constant reminding of “waste of time.” It was a BURNING DESIRE! AN OBSESSION!
When the idea was first planted in my mind by Mr. Carnegie, it was coaxed, nursed, and enticed to remain
alive. Gradually, the idea became a giant under its own power, and it coaxed, nursed, and drove me. Ideas
are like that. First you give life and action and guidance to ideas, then they take on power of their own and
sweep aside all opposition. Ideas are intangible forces, but they have more power than the physical brains
that give birth to them."

Do we continue coaxing, nursing and enticing our dreams to remain alive despite the rejection by our family,
friends and people we share our business with? As Hill said if we continue on, our dreams with take on a
power of their own and will sweep aside all opposition.

As Michael Dlouhy Has said many, many times, "If you knew you could not fail, how differently would you live your life?"

IMAGINATION - the act or power of forming a mental image of something not present to the senses or never before
wholly perceived in reality.
