THE WORKSHOP OF THE MIND - IMAGINATION
The Fifth Step toward Riches
‘What if’ – is possibly the most powerful phrase we can ever use;
What if – I was rich?
What if – Man could walk on the Moon?
What if -
That simple phrase opens our minds to the possibility that things can be different, that we can bring about change. That simple phrase will kick start our imagination into building the picture world we have just brought to life.
As Hill tells us “The imagination is literally the workshop wherein are fashioned all plans created by man. The impulse, the DESIRE, is given shape, form, and ACTION through the aid of the imaginative faculty of the mind.”
It has been said that man can create anything which he can imagine. We are all born with this incredible ability of being able to take one thing and ‘imagine’ it into something entirely new or different – the cardboard box used to hold a Birthday present which becomes a car, train or space rocket. The mobile phone capable of only making phone calls which became the computer in your pocket containing more raw power than the first Moon rockets, all testament to the ability of imagination when put to good use and aided and abetted by both parts of our brain, the conscious and sub-conscious.
If we treat imagination like a muscle, it surely makes sense to exercise it regularly as we should any muscle? Sadly, though in some cases, the imagination muscle we used so often in childhood can fall into disuse, often encouraged by well-meaning parents or relatives ‘advising’ youngsters not to get too big for their boots” and other negative comments while proudly declaring themselves as just being realistic.
Michael and some of the Mentoring for Free coaches often suggest we need to remember who is giving us advice before accepting what we are being told at face value. For instance, perhaps the person who has never invested anything into anything might not be the best person to go to for profitable investment advice?
The good news is because our Daily Self Talk starts with us being able to picture our perfect World and writing down what we need to be able to live the life we want, supported by constant repetition while seeing ourselves living that life along with using our sub-conscious mind to work on creating the plans we require to achieve those desires, it is also keeping our imagination alive and thriving.
The World most people really want to live in will never created by realists but by people of imagination asking themselves ‘What if’
