“For God is working in you, giving you desire and
the power to do what pleasures him.”
Philippians 2:13 NLT

I gave close attention to the words which revealed
the importance Hill put on persistence. Read carefully
the following statements written by Mr. Hill:

“PERSISTENCE is an essential factor in the procedure
of transmuting DESIRE into its monetary equivalent.
The basis of persistence is the POWER OF WILL.

“The building of a fortune, generally, involves the
application of the entire thirteen factors of this
philosophy. These principles must be understood, they
must be applied with PERSISTENCE by all who accumulate

“. your first test as to your PERSISTENCE will come
when you begin to follow the six steps described in
the second chapter

“The starting point of all achievement is DESIRE. Keep
this constantly in mind. Weak desires bring weak
results, just as a small amount of fire makes a small
amount of heat. If you find yourself lacking in
persistence, this weakness may be remedied by building
a stronger fire under your desires.

If you find you are weak in PERSISTENCE, center your
attention upon the instructions contained in the chapter
on “Power”; surround yourself with a “MASTER MIND” group,
and through the cooperative efforts of the members of
this group, you can develop persistence

“. you will understand the importance of PERSISTENCE in
the accumulation of a fortune. Without PERSISTENCE, you
will be defeated, even before you start. With PERSISTENCE
you will win.

supplanted by any other quality!”

With this much stress placed on the importance of persistence
do you think it would be to our best interest to learn how
and practice being persistent?

He calls persistence a state of mind based upon definite
causes. I have chosen to follow the steps Hill gives to
grow my persistence: Having a definiteness of purpose;
an intense desire; having a self-reliance (belief
in my ability); having a definiteness of plans; having
an accurate knowledge (know I know and do); being
co-operative (I am not a lone wolf); having will-power
(a habit of concentrating); making it a habit.

It has been here at Mentoring for Free with the continue
study of Think and Grow Rich that my persistence has moved
to a new level. Being on the calls on regularly, speaking
up to share my wisdom, learning to listen (really listen)
to the wisdom of others, writing lesson weekly, studying
the colors so to understand the thinking of others and
myself, and much, much more.

Thank to Linda and Michael Dlouhy for their persistence
in building these mastermind group. My gratitude to Bob
Shoaf and all the mentor who have reached out to help.
To each and all of those who participate on the calls my
heartfelt thanks. My appreciation to everyone who download
the e-book and allows me to mentor to them.

PS: If God is working in me, shouldn’t I use the desire he
gives and the power to do to serve Him and anyone else He
put before me!
