Chapter 7 - Organized Planning
Hill states that everything that we create begins with desire. That desire is taken on the first lap of its journey, from the abstract to the concrete, into the workshop of the imagination where plans for its transition are created and organized.
From a very young age Mr. Barnes had a very deep rooted burning desire to be in business with Edison. It all started when Mr. Barnes put his organized plan into action. First, he took the freight train to Orange, N.J., and then he presented himself at Mr. Edison’s laboratory, and announced he had come to go into business with the inventor.
Mr. Barnes succeeded because he had a definite organized plan for his final goal. He put all his energy, all of his willpower and all his effort into achieving his goal. In the beginning he did menial work that eventually took him to his goal five years later. Mr. Barnes succeeded because in his own mind he saw himself as Mr. Thomas Edison’s partner every minute of the time. (Organized Planning)
Mr. Barnes said, There is but one thing in this world I am determined to have, and that is a business association with Thomas A. Edison. I will burn all bridges behind me, and stake my entire future on my ability to get what I want.”
