Think and Grow Rich

Chapter 1 The Power of Thought

The root of thinking is our thoughts.  Our thoughts come from our five senses.  Everything we have learned since we were born comes from our conscious mind or it is stored deep within our subconscious minds.  As we think in our hearts, so we are, or we are what we think.

When the English poet W.C. Henley wrote the prophetic lines “I am the Master of my Fate, I am the Captian of my Soul,” he was telling us that we have the power to control our thoughts and change our reality.  If our dominating thoughts are always focused on the negative such as poverty or sickness we will attract to us the forces, the people, and all the circumstances of life that support our negative thoughts.  If our thoughts are positive we will attract all the wonderful circumstances to us.

Steven Spielberg is the “master of his fate”.  Since childhood Steven Spielberg had a burning desire to be a movie director.  He was very clear on what he wanted to create.  He became so absorbed in his dream.  He "Acted as If " he had already achieved his dream.   Every day for three months he would go to the studio, he wore a suit and carried a briefcase, found a vacant office, spoke to directors, writers and editors and waved to the guards.  Everyone thought he was one of the students with a summer job at the studio.

In closing, the power of thought is beyond our imagination.  Everything that we have created began with a thought.  We create our own reality whether it is a life of riches or a life of poverty.  The choice is all ours.
