CHAPTER 9 PERSISTENCE: THE SUSTAINED EFFORT NECESSARY TO INDUCE FAITH
The Eighth Step toward Riches
My reason for posting lessons weekly is to fully learn how to apply Napoleon
Hill's 13 Steps. I do not want to be like most people who are ready to throw in
the towel at the first sign of opposition. A few carry on until they attain
their goal. These are the successful ones. Napoleon Hill mentions a few of the
most successful ones, but there are 100,000s of people who have used these 13
principles to become very successful.
To help me maintain persistence, I must follow the 6 steps in Chapter 2 DESIRE
of this book, Think and Grow Rich. Napoleon Hill says only 2% who have a
DEFINITE GOAL and a DEFINITE PLAN ever comply with the Steps in Chapter 2.
Lack of persistence is one of the major causes of failure. Moreover, persistence
is a weakness common to the majority of men. It is a weakness which may be
overcome by effort.
The starting point of all achievement is DESIRE. Weak desires bring weak
results. POVERTY is attracted to those whose mind is favorable to it, just as
money is attracted to him whose mind has been prepared to attract it.
WITH PERSISTENCE WILL COME SUCCESS.
EVERY FAILURE BRINGS WITH IT THE SEED OF AN EQUIVALENT ADVANTAGE.
Persistence is to the character of man, what carbon is to steel.
