Chapter 8 – Decision - The Mastery of Procrastination
The Seventh Step toward Riches
ACCURATE analysis of over 25,000 men and women who had experienced failure, disclosed the fact that LACK OF DECISION was near the head of the list of the 30 major causes of FAILURE. This is no mere statement of a theory—it is a fact. PROCRASTINATION, the opposite of DECISION, is a common enemy which practically every man must conquer.
You will have an opportunity to test your capacity to reach quick and definite DECISIONS when you finish reading this book, and are ready to begin putting into ACTION the principles which it describes.
Hill gives us many examples of government/political decisions that were made and then acted upon at a later date. In this chapter Hill express these decisions were a matter of life and death for the person or persons making the decision.
In most cases when we make the decision to become our own bosses, escape the 9-5 jobs, it too was a matter of life and death. I like the fact that the Hill points out making the decision is only part of our goal to success. The other part is acting on that decision to reach the desired outcome. If you would like to be able to take six months vacations back-to-back, then you will need to get started on your action plan to make that dream come true! So the question becomes, how long is it going to take for you to conquer procrastination? Once the decision is made we need to become laser focused with a plan of action to acquire the desire.
Webster's' Dictionary definition and example use of procrastinate: 1. to defer action; delay: to procrastinate until an opportunity is lost.
