Chapter 11: The Mystery of Sex Transmutation

The Tenth Step Towards Riches

Love is, without question, life’s greatest experience. It brings one

into communion with Infinite Intelligence. When mixed with the

emotions of romance and sex, it may lead far up the ladder of

creative effort.

In this chapter, Hill discusses the benefit of transmuting the energy generated by the emotion of sex into creative energy one can use toward developing the plans needed to achieve success and wealth. According to Hill, “Sex desire is the most powerful of human desires. When driven by this desire, men develop keenness of imagination, courage, will-power, persistence, and creative ability unknown to them at other times.” Transmutation is defined as the changing, or transferring of one element, or form of energy, into another. Transmutation of sex energy means to take this most powerful of human desires and, through practice of will-power, refocus and channel that energy toward the achievement of your goals for success and lifestyle – money, or its material equivalent.

Hill is not dissuading people from healthy sex lives at the expense of material gains. He suggests developing strong sexual emotions with a life partner – your wife, or your husband – combined with love and romance creates a trifecta of positive energy that cannot be surpassed be any other natural means. “When the emotion of romance is added to those of love and sex, the obstructions between the finite mind of man and Infinite Intelligence are removed.”

My personal experience supports Hill’s position. I met my wife in 2003. She was one of those rare people whose spirit touched my soul - in the moment my heart missed a beat and the air was wisped from my breathe. Her’s was a spirit one rarely finds in their lifetime, and even less seldom has the opportunity to connect with - she is my angel. Having Neicy in my life made me want to be more than I was. She grounded me while my spirit soared, and she was the only one who could touch me when nobody else could. She saved my life. Her light touched my soul and made me more than I had ever achieved on my own.

Today, when things get rough, or life starts pushing back, I am able to go back into my memories and embrace a very special time in my life. Her loss was tragic, but her spirit is always with me. I carry it everywhere I go. Even today, having her in my life makes me want to be more than I am. I can’t disagree with Hill’s analogy – the results from this trifecta have been far too significant in my life to dispute the evidence.

This chapter touched my heart with fond memories. To share with my friends – the reason I add ‘Hal’ to my name is in memory of that most special time in my life. My wife used to ask me what I would like her to change about herself and I always told her she was perfect just the way she was. Those were not just hollow words – they were from the heart. Her flaws, her character, her spirit, her mind, everything – perfect.

So, she started calling me ‘Hal’ after the character in the movie ‘Shallow Hal’.
