Chapter 9 Persistence
PERSISTENCE: THE SUSTAINED EFFORT NECESSARY TO INDUCE FAITH
The Eighth Step toward Riches
Persistence is the key to all things. If we do not persist then we will not accomplish what we are seeking. To form a habit they say that it must be performed each day for 28 days; this is way many habit forming programs are based on this time scale. I have tried it and for 30 days as part of the Mental Cleanse I gave up among other things listening to the news and watching TV. After 30 days I no longer graved to watch TV. Likewise in the car I always had the radio on but again with 30 days a mental will power I no longer need it. These days I am very selective in what I watch and listen to.
Likewise it is with our business, our self talk is our means of communicating with the Universe but saying it haphazardly some days and not others, once or twice when we remember on some days and 1,000 times on others does not convey to the Universe that we require certain number of eBook downloads, 2 to 5 prospects a day to talk to, etc. Our daily mode of operation likewise has to be consistent for a minimum of 30 days at which time if we continue it for a further 60 days we will establish if any changes are required.
In the early days I found it hard to say myself talk consistently and it was only when I used a stop watch principle of setting intervals on one hour, at the end of which five minutes was devoted to saying myself talk out loud. After 30 days in my case Self Talk began at any gaps in my thinking thus eliminating any negative thinking. Today as I drive the car I automatically say myself talk.
I believe that if we do not persist we do not achieve.
