Chapter 4 – Autosuggestion, The Medium for Influencing the Subconscious Mind – The Third Step toward Riches
Hill tells us that we have absolute control over what reaches our subconscious mind.
What a fantastic power we have. That means we have absolute control over our lives because as Hill and many other leaders also tell us, we become what we think about most.
So how do we become the successful happy person we want to be? The answer is autosuggestion, more commonly known as self-talk.
We read in a previous chapter that no matter we tell ourselves over and over again with feeling, our subconscious mind will eventually come to believe it.
This is a powerful reason to ensure we do NOT talk negatively to ourselves. If we tell ourselves regularly that we will never be successful, that negative things always happen to us etc then that is EXACTLY what we will get.
To re-programme our subconscious mind we need to stop listening to other people’s negativity which can sometimes be difficult if we live or work with them.
But there is nothing stopping us from turning off the news or deciding not to read the newspaper.
And the easiest way of all is to begin right away to say our positive self-talk several times a day.
When I first joined Mentoring For Free I thought saying my self-talk 100 times a day for 30 days was going to be difficult. Then when I did it I was so proud of myself.
And then I heard so many of my fellow members of this great mastermind saying that they say their self talk thousands of times every day continuously. WOW!
I had to step it up. I knew I had to increase my self talk and also that 30 days was only the start of creating this positive habit.
And thankfully it has become a habit. I say it when I wake up in the morning even before I get out of bed. I say it in the shower, while I’m driving to and from work and at every other time I get a chance during the day. As I drive a round trip of one hour to work, most of my self talk is in the car.
Apart from other times during the day when I sometimes forget if I get distracted, I have programmed my mind to immediately start my self talk as soon as I get into my car.
I’ve often found on a Saturday or Sunday when I am out of my routine that as soon as I get into the car, even if that is as late as 11am, I automatically start my self talk.
It is becoming a part of who I am.
