CHAPTER 1 THE MAN WHO “THOUGHT” HIS WAY
INTO PARTNERSHIP WITH THOMAS A. EDISON

“When the opportunity came, it appeared in a different form, and from
adifferent direction… That is one of the tricks of opportunity. It has
a sly habit of slipping in by the back door, and often it comes disguised
in the form of misfortune, or temporary defeat. Perhaps this is why so
many fail to recognize opportunity.”

Edwin Barnes leaves home carrying only one thing. It was the thing in his
control: a thought, “I will go into business with Mr. Edison.” He did not
know the “how,” but “how” didn’t matter.  He was driven by the desire.
After a 5-year delay, it did slip in the backdoor with the Ediphone
becoming his ticket to the top.

R. U. Darby was already counting his fortune. He had his capital and the
digging was in full swing, and misfortune raised its head when the vein
of gold stopped. He quit. But, it did not stop there for later it was
discovered he had stopped just 3 feet short of motherlode. The good news
is desire arose and lead him the top of table in the insurance business.

Henry Ford wanted a one block eight-cylinder engine, and even through his
engineers continued to live in a pool of defeat, Mr. Ford recognized this
as only a temporary defeat. He refused to think in the negative, for
impossible was not in his thoughts.

NO MORE!! I will, from this moment forward, keep my thoughts will be in my
control. I will ignite my God given desire and see myself the successful
Network Marketer which lives in me. I am in my gold mine in which I will
dig past my 3 feet, I WILL NOT QUIT!

Here, in the MFF mastermind, I have found a wisdom in removing “impossible”
from the lexicon of my mind. As Hill warns, “One of the main weaknesses of
mankind is the average man’s familiarity with the word “impossible.” He knows
all the rules which will NOT work. He knows all the things which CANNOT be
done. This book was written for those who seek the rules which have made others
successful, and are willing to stake everything on those rules.” With MFF I
have found the main to drive away “impossible” thinking, for it is here where,
“You learn how to think, not what to think!”

“Success comes to those who become SUCCESS CONSCIOUS. Failure comes to those
who indifferently allow themselves to become FAILURE CONSCIOUS. The object of
this book is to help all who seek it, to learn the art of changing their minds
from FAILURE CONSCIOUSNESS to SUCCESS CONSCIOUSNESS.”

“If your dream is just big enough for you, it’s not a big enough dream. It
ought to include others.” (John Maxwell)

Thanks to Michael, Linda, Bob, and the MFF mastermind for having belief and
dreams big enough to include me.
