Chapter 9 - Persistence

Hill tells us "The basis of persistence is the POWER OF WILL"
or will power.

The dictionary has a couple of definitions for the word "will power"
and they are:

1.  the Ability to control yourself,
2.  Strong determination that allows you to do something difficult
(such as to lose weight or quit smoking), and
3.  Energetic determination.

I tell myself I will stay up late to do more promotiing
of my business and it gets to be after midnight and my
tiredness gets the best of me and I find myself nodding
between posting and I am not able to stay awake so I go to bed to
get some sleep.

So the next day I decide to get up early each day instead of staying
up late, so I can begin promoting my business early in order to get more done.
I set the alarm and in the morning I hear the alarm and get out of bed.

With both situations I had desire, I had a plan, I had the
willingness to do the work and I implemented the plan in a couple
of different ways to find what worked for me so
I would not quit and give up on the plan.  I found it easier to get
up with the alarm clock than to fight with sleep after midnight.

Sometimes, I believe when we consider persistence, we think of
the people who did the very difficult things like climbing a
mountain but persistence most of the time is sticking with the
little things until they get done.

In building our business it would be the little things like making
a phone call, talking with people, posting an ad, getting on the
training calls, speaking up, posting a lesson, etc, etc, etc.
In the short term it does not seem like a lot of persistence but
if we keep doing it we will benefit in the end and it does take
persistence to keep it up day after day and year after year.

So whether you also need to find something as simple as determining
the time that is right for us to promote our business or whether
we decide we are going to do something as difficult as climb a mountain,
both will take persistence. Both will need the ability to control oneself,
strong determination that allows you to do something difficult and being
energetic while being determined.

So persistently I set my alarm clock and get up early so I can
build my business day after day, week after week, year after year.
