Chapter 9 Persistence

The Eighth Step toward Riches

I found this quote, “Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.”
Calvin Coolidge

A young child can show persistence in obtaining what it requires by persistently asking for it, it may ask one parent and then the other and by changing the terms of asking will in the end achieve the goal. The parents give way because of the persistent asking for the same thing by the child.

Athletes achieve their goals by the training over many years of persistently pushing the boundaries of their endurance and the pain involved.

Entrepreneurs and inventors are persistent in their pursuit of a new business or an innovative vehicle or means of improving lifestyle. Others are persistent the pursuit of an academic qualifications, I was one of those. I had a passionate desire to obtain a higher degree; one problem was I did not have a first degree.

My passionate desire to obtain a higher degree was the motivating force to make me not give up or quit, there had to be a way. Everyone around me said it was impossible but I believed the word said “I am possible” if you are persistent. Thus the Passionate Desire became the motivation and provided the energy and action to obtain what I saw as my goal. I did find a way and I did obtain my goal of a Higher Degree in my chosen field.

There are many examples in Hill’s Book “Think and Grow Rich” Edison’s desire to produce and incandescent light globe, Henry Ford’s passion to reduce production cost by producing a one piece engine block. Each was driven by what started as a dream, became a passionate desire that by faith would be transformed by persistence into the material object of the original dream.

Likewise as we build our MLM Businesses we start with a dream and by following the thirteen steps set down in sequence in TGR logically and not cutting corners or trying to circumnavigate a given step, with a never quit attitude and persistence in the face of failures, we will achieve our goal of riches.
