Chapter 3 – Desire

Napoleon Hills says:  “It is a well-known fact that one comes, finally, to BELIEVE whatever one repeats to one’s self, whether the statement be true or false. If a man repeats a lie over and over, he will eventually accept the lie as truth. Moreover, he will BELIEVE it to be the truth.”  When I read these sentences and because I listen to T&GR calls, I wonder:  how will I know whether or not what I believe to be a truth is really a lie?  Do those lies serve me well?  If not, how can I replace a lie with a new truth?

Michael and Mr. Hill tells us that choosing a self-talk that replaces programming put in place by well-meaning parents, teachers, clergy and others will replace lies with truths.  I have programs that I don’t even know are running, and like peeling an onion, I need to discover what they are, and to focus on self-talk to reprogram beliefs that no longer serve me well.  The first step is to be aware of the beliefs I accept without question.  They have served me well up to this point in my life.  But now I want to go beyond where I am personally and financially.

It’s a process, a journey, but as Michael says, it’s worth the work and persistence in the end.  I believe that to be the truth.
